10-Seater Bespoke Cherry Dining Table
A handcrafted cherry dining table that seats 10, custom-designed to navigate narrow doorways in a historic home.
This custom dining table was created for a couple who purchased an 1800s historic home in Wallkill, NY. They needed a table that honored their home's heritage while accommodating family gatherings. The challenge was significant: create a table large enough to seat 10 people comfortably, yet narrow enough to navigate through 38-inch doorways common in older homes.
We designed a solution using locally-sourced cherry wood, selected for its warm tones and ability to develop a rich patina over time. The table features a distinctive three-piece leg design with exterior radius corners and interior tapers that create visual interest while maintaining proper proportions. Special attention was given to the edges, which are softly rounded for comfort and safety.
Production involved developing custom jigs for the complex leg design and meticulously selecting wood for grain consistency. The finished piece perfectly balances traditional craftsmanship with contemporary needs, creating a centerpiece that looks as though it has always belonged in this historic setting. The clients reported that the table has already become the heart of many family gatherings, fulfilling both its practical purpose and aesthetic vision.
